Curator-Led Tour: Really Free: The Radical Art of Nellie Mae Rowe

Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 6–7:30 pm

Join us for a private after-hours tour of Really Free: The Radical Art of Nellie Mae Rowe with Catherine Morris, Sackler Senior Curator for the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art. Really Free celebrates a preeminent and underrecognized figure of twentieth-century American art, contextualizing Rowe’s practice as a radical act of self-expression and liberation for a Black woman artist living and working in the American South. This intimate tour will guide Members through numerous highlights of the exhibition, which features more than one hundred works exploring themes of girlhood, play, and spirituality.

This tour is reserved for Trendsetter, Groundbreaker, and Director’s Circle Members, in thanks for their generous support of the Brooklyn Museum. To RSVP, please email membership@brooklynmuseum.org .
