Large white porcelain pitcher made from mold, with applied gilt and painted decorations. Flat base, bulging belly, and high arching spout with opposing ear-shaped handle molded like a branch. Relief decoration, highlighted with gilt, of acorns and oak leaf wreaths on either side of body and eagle atop shield and anchor below spout. On the shield, the stripes are painted dull red; the upper section is outlined in blue and contains the inscription, "To the Assembly." Additional inscriptions painted within the wreaths on both sides of the body.
CONDITION: Good, loss of gilding and cracks in glaze. |
