Description Black cast carbon fiber chair with overall mottled texture, with short back, tapering at top to a point, slight angle to seat back, wide seat tapering at front to a point and four long thin legs. Jonathan Muecke is a graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art and was a recipient of the Veuve Clicquot Award. 'Chair' is from a series by the artist called: 'Open Objects' that explores conceptual ideas about definition and our means of identifying objects. The designer aims to prompt the confrontation between the viewer and the object, prompting the development of new thoughts on functionality and materiality to emerge and so remove limitations of understanding and encourage the viewer to engage and interact, rather than react to the object.
