Curatorial Remarks: Unlike the smooth, high glazes on contemporaneous pieces by Eva Zeisel and Russel Wright, the textured, organic surface of Ben Seibel’s teapot and celery dish recalls the green glazes used earlier in the century on Arts and Crafts wares. Raymor dinnerware, a pioneering line in the marketing of modernist design to Americans, enabled those with modest means to buy good design at affordable prices.
