Large ceramic dough bowl with rounded sides that flare out and a slightly incurved rim. The base is slightly rounded so the vessel does not sit flat. Interior and exterior are covered with a red slip. The exterior rim is decorated with a wide of geometric and floral motifs in black and white on a reddish-brown ground. Two thin black lines separated by a thin white line are around the rim. There are fire clouds on exterior and one drip and smudges of gray pigment. There is a white and red adhesive label on base with "Reyes G--van" in black ink and the number "1250." On the base the number "1250" in written in blue crayon? and the name Reyes Galvan in pencil.
Condition: good; the slipped surface on exterior and interior rim are abraded in places, and there one, very small loss on exterior. The painted design on exterior is heavily abraded on one side. The vessel is very dirty. |
