Description Rocking Chair, probably pine, painted Black. Yoke crest- rail with top scrolling backwards, decorated with basket of fruit at center with foliate and scroll decorations at sides. Nine vertical rungs form back, arms terminating at front with scrolls and decorated with leaves and scrolls. Seat scrolled forward at front and upward at back, decorated with outlines and with gilt stylized flowers at front. Sides and back of seat grained in red. Four splayed legs, the front two turned and decorated with gilt. Four stretchers, the front one is the only one turned and gilded. CONDITION - Black paint cracking and grizzled throughout. Nicks along edges of seat. Heavy wear to decoration especially arms. Minor splits along front scroll of seat. Joints near scrolls of seat splitting. Generally worn.
