Catalogue Description: Torah Breastplate or Shield. Parcel gilt, filigree, rectangular form with rounded upper corners, at top center half crown with filigree decoration hung with single bell, on far left and right two columns supported by engraved plaques inscribed in Hebrew which reads: "Yachin" on right and "Boaz" on left, both Hebrew names. Right column has filigree shaft and finial consists of Tablets of Law surmounted by crown; left column has filigree shaft surmounted by crown; at center a rectangular box with rounded top and door with key, box decorated with Star of David in filigree, box representing Torah Ark; above right column engraved Hebrew reads, "Keter Cohanin (Crown of Cohanim)"; above right column Hebrew reads, "Crown of Torah"; at bottom center Hebrew inscription reads: "Given to the holy congregation of Plotazk" and dated (in Hebrew) "1855." Condition: Good, pendant bent.
