Catalogue Description: Chiffonier of kingwood (amaranthe) veneer with ivory inlay on mahogany, silk tassels. Rectangular cabinet with slightly serpentine front forming two doors; supported on four tapered legs, front legs have ivory cuffs and ivory stringing on outside edge that continues up the corners and terminates below top in an outside edge that continues up the corners and terminates below top in small scroll. Side panels and front doors raised, with ivory string inlay forming diamonds with ivory dots at intersections. Two ivory rings with silk tassels hanging from them ornament doors and form pulls. Interior fitted with three mahogany shelves above a row of three small drawers with ivory knob pulls. CONDITION: excellent; little restoration had to be done on this piece after purchase. An ivory cuff on one of the legs was replaced, the ivory ring on the right front door was replaced and a new key was made for the locks. Restoration done in Paris by H.
