Catalogue Description:
Urn has flaring lip, concave neck, convex shoulder and tapering body with 2 scroll handles attached at shoulders and sides; tapers towards base; polychrome decorations on exterior with cobalt blue and gold. Scenes on either side of urn set within ovoid gilded cartouches depict ladies in rural settings; foot has decoration of cherubs and flowers. Base is square plinth with concave sides. Lid has peaked finial and decoration of pink roses on white ground. One of four manufactured. a - Vase, or urn-shaped body; b - Foot ring; c - Base (square); d - Lid; e - Iron rod support. Condition: Excellent, except for some wear in the gilt around the handles. February 22, 1973, a piece of rubber backed carpet placed under iron screw and some new gasket rubber placed between boddy of urn and base that is held on with long iron screw.
