Catalogue Description:
Redware, nude male figurine, sitting with legs bent in front. One arm rests across the knees and the other is raised, holding something to the figure's mouth (food, smoking?). The figurine is hollow and rattles. The backbone is represented by a recessed vertical line. The man wears a cap and ear spools and has modeled ears, eyes, nose, mouth, penis and testicles. The head is decorated with a darker red band that extends from the eyes to the shoulders. There are small holes in the ears and nose (nostrils), and two larger holes at the figure's waist. A plaster reconstruction of the bench and legs of the figure are broken off and stored in a plastic bag with the sculpture. Possible ceramic style: El Bosque Phase, Red Monohrome Group, 100 B.C.E.- 500 C.E. Condition: good; large sections of the cap are broken and missing.
