Catalogue Description:
Silver sugar bowl (a) with lid (b); part of a three-piece set with teapot and creamer (1995.151.1-.2). (a) Bowl: ovoid body sits on stepped oval pedestal base with die-rolled band of a guilloche of leaves surrounding flowers at bottom of foot. Body is lobed in lower section and has a die-rolled band of scrolls and flowers at shoulder; above this, body steps back to rim of a die-rolled band matching foot band. Two double scrolled handles with scrolled thumb rest. Monogram in script on front: "DJW". (b) Lid has high dome terminating in slightly domed oval finial ornamented with scrolls surrounding blossom on stem. CONDITION: Foot crushed at pedestal on side opposite monogram. Deep dent on central lobe on side opposite monogram. Shallow dent under "W" of monogram and on lobe to left of this; long, flat dent on lower section of lob to right of monogram.
