Catalogue Description:
Brass gas wall sconce (a) with glass shade (b); one of set of eight, 41.980.75-82. Symmetrical reticulated back plate: large anthemion at top above circular section with main attachment to armature supporting lamp proper; below a shield shape and below than an inverted smaller anthemion flanked by symmetrical scrolls. Armature supporting lamp is scrolling open design topped by grotesque animal head. Lamp proper in five sections; large cup-shape main section with solid liner; reticulated cover; two-part narrow annular collar; reticulated cylindrical neck now containing electric light bulb receptacle; reticulated circular globe bracket with four screws. Six-lobed baluster shape frosted glass shade with etched classically inspired floral garlands. Originally gas, now electrified.
