Catalogue Description: Child's chair with original tooled red leather seat. An example of the combining of indigenous and Western Neoclassicism into a hybrid form. A small chair comprised of two joined parts, a concave 'U' upper section forming chair back and front legs and second attached concave lower section forming the seat and rear curved legs; turned front and rear stretchers and attached arched head rest at top; the whole covered with a tooled red leather seat with floral and abstract geometric designs, attached to frame with metal gold colored tacks. Spanish term for this form is butaca or Campeche.
