Catalogue Description: "Usonian" style chair of laminated plywood with seat and back cushions upholstered in salmon vinyl. Chair composed of planar sections of laminated plywood. The back is a rectangle, which slopes gently outward at the top; the seat is a rectangle, which slopes gently upward at the front. A 6" high rectangular apron runs along the front of the seat. The seat and back are cradled into two parallel plywood sections, which form the base and support of chair. The front edge of these sections is connected to the apron, and then angles sharply inward to the ground. At the rear, the side sections angle sharply outward from the ground for 3" then slope gently upward 3/4 of the way up the back before terminating in a 1" horizontal to meet the back. All of the sections are joined by a simple joint and nailed. Rectangular cushions rest on seat and back of chair; each cushion has piping around the edges. CONDITION: Fair. Chair frame shows general wear and scuffing, some of the plywood is cracking and splintering. New nails have been added at proper right lower corner of apron; edge of side section behind is split. Cushions have some tears and loose stitching.
