Catalogue Description:
Bowl on scalloped, stepped, circular base with symmetrical applied and chased decoration of four oval cartouches with stylized leaf at center surrounded by canted reserves with cross hatching and scrollwork with flowers above and below. At rim of base, applied scalloped band with alternating scrollwork and strapwork. Large undecorated U-shaped bowl with applied elaborate scalloped down-turned lip, approximately 5 inches in width with, applied pattern of four oval cartouches with central stylized leaves and scrolling acanthus and other leaves, above and below, surrounded by repoussé canted triangular reserves with cross-hatching alternating with repoussé scrollwork with naturalistic floral swags above applied fleur-de-lis. Rim edged with scalloped band with alternating scrolled leaves and strapwork. Base engraved with monogram "RSS". Condition: Very good, scratches to interior due to normal use and polishing.
