Catalogue Description:
Standing four-armed goddess, identified by the attributes she holds in her upper hands: a flaming discus (chakra) and a flaming conch (shankha). Also identified by the buffalo head in relief on the base. In South Indian tradition, Durga is understood to be the sister of Vishnu so she is often depicted holding the same attributes as Vishnu. Like Vishnu, she stands straight, without any bends in her posture.
