Catalogue Description:
Hindu goddess Durga slaying the buffalo demon Mahisha, depicted in stylized form with extremely long and thin arms arrayed on either side, each holding a different weapon contributed by the gods. Demon below her is receiving a spear to the chest. Thin frame backs the goddess' arms and serves as a halo in the form of a pointed arch. Whole piece is very worn from handling.
