Catalogue Description:
Finial in the shape of a rooster, with large, elaborately scrolling tail. Javenese bronze casters began to make objects with exuberant, open-work scrolling like this in the 10th century, but this example, with its flatter form, is likely from the later period, when all court activity moved to the eastern end of the island.
