Catalogue Description: Earthenware, with mottled and pooled green glaze, highlighted with silver, and molded decoration. Figural pottery teapot (a) with lid (b) with subject taken from the nursery rhyme "There was an old lady who lived in a shoe..." The pot (a) is in the form of a shoe/house. The heel of the shoe is pierced to form a handle, while the upturned toe forms the spout. Between the spout and the lid is a large rectangular buckle. On each side of the body is a door flanked by two windows. Each side of the spout also has a small window. The lid (b) is in the form of a woman's head, and along with the upper part of the pot, forms the bust of a woman emerging from the shoe. CONDITION: Excellent
