Catalogue Description: Dinner Plate, Porcelain. White body. Cream border at rim edge. Middle rim with border of nine running elephants interspersed with summarily rendered trees. At inner rim inscription, beginning with pink bat: "HE * KNEW = THAT * WHEN - THE * JUNGLE -. - MOVES - ONLY * WHITE * MEN - CAN - TO - TURN - IT * ASIDE". At center plate on cream ground with four pink roof huts, encircled by two broad bands with animals; outer with yellow/green antelope-like beasts; inner with gray and pink boars. One of a set of twelve dinner plates, all different, with quotes from R. Kipling; see 1990.145.16 - .27. CONDITION - Very good original condition.
