Catalogue Description: Dinner plate, Porcelain. White body. Cream ground. Gray border at rim edge. Inner rim with band of repeated feather or leaf motif in light-pink, gray and mauve. Inscription on inner rim with pink and light-blue bands above and below: "THAT - IS - THE - NOISE - OF - THE - SPRING - A - VIBRATING - BOOM - WHICH - IS - NEITHER - BEES - NOR - FALLING - WATER - NOR - THE - WIND - IN - THE - TREE - TOPS - BUT - THE - PURRING - OF - THE - WARN (sic) - HAPPY - WORLD". Center of plate with opposed light-blue and pink peacocks with recumbent nude below, against a mandoria of abstracted tail feathers. One of a set of twelve dinner plates, all different, with quotes from R. Kipling; see 1990.145.16 - .27 CONDITION - Very good original condition.
