Catalogue Description:
Recto: portrait of older man with gray wig and reddish sideburns; wears navy jacket over pink vest and white stock; holds book with proper right hand; seascape in background with small ship on horizon at left and large full-sailed ship on right. Verso: mourning scene with male and female mourners flanking pyramidal grave raised on block pedestal; weeping willow tree painted on reverse of convex glass lens.
