Catalogue Description: Half the handle is undecorated. The symmetrical decoration begins with opposed "C' shape scrolls followed by four narrow molded horizontal bands capped by a half floret. Then a stylized plant with elaborate leaves and scrolls in the Dresser manner. This is surrounded by a chevron of closely molded vertical hatching, which in turn is surrounded by a small floret with symmetrical leaves. The empty field above (intended for initials) is bordered by a narrow edge of small leaf-like decoration. The end is capped by a sunburst design; the reverse has similar decoration, but lacks the central floral motives. Victor pattern. Although there is no maker's mark, this is a distinctive pattern seemingly made only by Toile. H. Best & Son is certainly a retailer's mark. CONDITION: Good; normal wear, some scratches.
