Catalogue Description:
Silver repoussé steeple-form spice container for use in the Habdalah (Sabbath) service. Tapered steeple surmounted by ball finial and flag. Octagonal base, openwork gallery with bell, flags in standards at four corners. Repoussé and engraved blossom decoration. Steeple-top removable (to form candlestick?), latticed bottom section to contain spices. Top bears name of owner (Joseph Levi) and is obviously older and of different workmanship. Condition: Fair, repaired and cleaned in 1950 by Stephen Ensko.
