CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Carved limestone pedestal, decorated with a serpentine garland of leaves in whose curves are contained, alternately, bearded masks and florets. Water spouted out of the mouths. The green color of the piece is due to the washing down of the patina from the bronze statue which originally stood upon it, thus forming part of a fountain arrangement. The pedestal was replaced with a replica and donated to the Museum when the fountain was renovated in 1971.
