CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Writing table (table a ecrire); tulipwood, casuarina wood, holly and various other woods inlaid on pine and oak. Louis XV style. Oval top with three-quarter pierced brass gallery; surface inlaid in trellis pattern enclosing stylized flowers. Panels between legs, on skirt, similarly inlaid; front panel fronts drawer with leather lined slide for writing; also fitted with compartments for pounce and ink pots. Four cabriole legs with bronze dore mounts above knees and on feet. Kidney-shaped shelf inlaid as top, with brass edging, fitted between legs slightly over half way down.
CONDITION - Excellent. Top appears to have been rather badly warped and split, re-done and neatly repaired (evidenced by butterfly dovetails of fresher wood on underside of top.
