CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Colorless pressed glass oval platter with side handles; all decorations and inscriptions molded into underside. In center, view of the Bunker Hill Monument with surrounding buildings and, in foreground, people strolling on lawn; inscription around top of obelisk-shaped monument reads "BIRTHPLACE OF LIBERTY". Inscription around bouge, "THE HEROES OF BUNKER HILL / THE SPIRIT OF SEVENTY SIX"; around rim, "PRESCOTT 1776 STARK / WARREN 1876 PUTNAM". Handles molded into shape of U.S. coat of arms, lower portion of shield overlaps rim, projecting upper portion flanked on both sides by curved bar with ball ends.
CONDITION: Fair; several manufacturing flaws, including bubbles and creases in glass); top point of shield of proper left handle is chipped.
