CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Carved stone seated male figure with legs bent in front and arms crossed over knees. This is a sukia figure or shaman. He is nude except for a necklace and cap decorated with incised geometrical designs and a tassel at the top. His head and face are naturalistically carved with big ears, coffee-bean eyes, a big nose, and lips around a partially-open mouth revealing two rows of teeth. The figure's spine is carved in low relief.
Condition: good; one ear is broken and missing. The figure used to be attached to a stool (34.1691) with plaster, but the two works were separated and the stool was deaccessioned..
