Hugo McCloud

Contemporary Art

Hugo McCloud assembled this work using hundreds of scraps that he cut from single-use plastic bags and then melted together with an iron. The image reflects McCloud’s interest in the ways that plastics travel from mass manufacturing and distribution to consumption and disposal. He sources the bags from recycling yards and landfill companies or finds them littered on the street and retains glimpses of the logos and text that speak to the prior lives of his chosen material.
