CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Classic wedding vase with incised water serpent (Avanyu) designs. Madeline Naranjo started potting in the 1930s. This work is made from red clay in the traditional hand coiled manner then stone polished and carved before open firing it. Pots would remain red in the final color except she smothers the fire at the height of firing process to achieve black.
