CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Two-part vase (a-b) with base (c). Earthenware with painted and gilt decoration. thin-walled u-shaped vases tapering toward the bottom and resting on three feet. The vases are not completely round--the rim of each forms an incomplete circle, which is intersected by a vertical plane that cuts into the center of the vase, but also leaves one side open. A and B fit together on the base such that the vertical planes face each other, with the vases forming a figure 8. B has a smooth rim, while the rim of A steps up partway around. The interiors of both vases are gilt. Exterior: A and B have similar decoration divided generally in two bands: at the top, pastel geometric forms on yellow and neutral mottled ground. The lower band has black and red patches and splatters on a white ground. Rectangular, flat base is wood painted dark gray.
