    CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Light thin wood. Wide opening at bottom. Naturalistic human face colored with brown red pigment. Broad forehead, two indentations above corners of eyes. Eyes slit shaped, heavily lidded. Traces of pigment indicate pupils. Broad flat nose. Mouth carved through--open with teeth individually carved. Narrow lips. Slightly pointed chin. Ears carved in low relief on both sides of head. Coiffure of short human hair, attached to wooden surface. Two central sections separated by narrow "bald" band. Two side sections separated with similar bands. CONDITION: Scattered surface dirt. Broken portion in rear, at rim. Missing section 2 in. wide and 2 in. long, leading to 4 in. long crack extending to top of head. Scattered chips and abrasions along rim. Tip of nose abraded. Chips and missing pigment on one eyelid. Top of head chipped, pitted.
