Frequent Art Questions
What is the provenance of this lamp?
This lamp was made by Handel & Company around the year 1900. It was the bequest of Laura L. Barnes, wife of the art collector Albert C. Barnes. This was a very early electric light! It’s interesting to consider the juxtaposition between the new technology and nature motifs.
