Verso, at the top, in nastaliq script: Likeness of Mirza Dakhani who had become Naubat Khan, work of the artist Har Das son of Anup Chatar; at left, in Devanagari script: Likeness of Naubat Khan former name Mirza Dakhani. Padshah Aurangzeb [elevated him in favor?]. Formerly [he was] a Khanazad [born in imperial service]... soldier of good perception worthy of trust; at right, in Devanagari script: The painter Hardas son of Anupchitr [sic]. (Trans. R. Skelton) Both Devanagari inscriptions are headed by the auspicious Shri.
