CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Spoon. Silver-plate sugar shell with pointed scalloped bowl with a molded simplified fleur-de-lys. Decoration of handle begins with small flower with two tassels below. Above are six narrow vertical striations capped at mid-point by small circular projection containing a pair of opposed ginkgo leaves. Above the projection sides of handle flare out and then in towards the pointed crest. In the broad end of handle is molded flying bird with elaborate tail set against asymmetrical meandering stems with flowers and wheat stalk in the Japanesque style. Reverse has molded Neo-Greco ornament at mid-point with stylized anthemion set in frame. Unique pattern.
CONDITION - Good original condition; overall scratching and some pitting in bowl; tip of bowl blunted; plate loss on heel of bowl.
