Can you tell me about this object?
This cup and saucer were designed by Dorothy C. Thorpe around 1940 and produced by Porcelaine de Paris. The reductivist geometric style builds on the sleek aesthetics, like the Machine Aesthetic, that gained popularity in the 1930s. Overall, the set reminds me a little of the Trylon and Perisphere from the 1939-40 NYC World's Fair, if you're familiar!
How cool! Thank you for the info.
