5th century

Brooklyn Museum photograph

Object Label

This elaborately haloed head and upper torso of a smiling youth has been tentatively identified as lndra, on the basis of his headdress and attributes: the stem of a flower in the figure's right hand and the placement of the attribute in his left, possibly a vajra, one of Indra's implements.
