The Fifth Annual Exhibition of Block Prints will be held in the Print Gallery of the Museum from May 6th through June 30th.
This collection, which is assembled by the Print Club of Philadelphia has increased in importance and scope to an extent that it now ranks as a nationally representative group of artists using as medium of expression wood block printing, both in color and black and white. The Mildred Boericke prize for the best print in the exhibition has been awarded to Fiske Boyd for his "Interior", a view of a modest parlor with an unusual angle of perspective and a strong technical appeal. Honorable mention was granted to I. J. Saneer for his "Connecticut Village” and to Charles M. Capps for the composition entitled "Low Water”.
Ernest W. Watson, instructor of the weekly class in block printing in the Museum, is represented by "A Cornish Fishing Village".
One hundred and nine prints are shown, the exhibition including Helen West Heller; Emil Ganso, Norman Kent, Howard Cook, Salvatore Pinto, Hobson Pittman, Leon Underwood, Angelo Pinto, Mary Sauter and Leo Neissner.
