Bursting with the vivid imagery and clarity of perception so abundantly possessed by the young, SALUTE TO BROOKLYN’S CREATIVE YOUTH ‘72, opens at The Brooklyn Museum’s Community Gallery on Sunday, March 12, at 11 A.M. In celebration of the opening, the New York City Board of Education will furnish musical entertainment in the Museum’s Auditorium Court from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Admission is free and the exhibition will be on view through April 9.
Under the aegis of the Brooklyn Arts and Culture Association (BACA), headed by Charlene Victor, and in cooperation with Henri Ghent, curator of the Community Gallery, the fourth successive exhibition of SALUTE is comprised of the finest paintings, sculpture, graphics and collages created during the past year by Brooklyn’s talented young people. In addition to the Community Gallery exhibition, hundreds of other works by the gifted youngsters will be on display throughout the borough in the downtown department stores, banks, schools, libraries and in the Brooklyn Borough Hall.
Also on view at The Brooklyn Museum in The Workshop Gallery, is THE YOUNG i, a photography exhibition featuring the works of elementary, junior and senior high school students.
The exhibition of 250 photographs represents the work of more than a hundred youngsters and covers a wide range of subject matter including photograms, solarization, social commentary, and portraiture.
THE YOUNG i, will be on view through April and can be seen Wednesday through Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 and Saturdays from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
