An exhibition of over 40 photographs by Victor Laredo will open to the public today (Sept. 12) at The Brooklyn Museum in the Photographic Gallery on the Second floor. The exhibit will remain on view through October 23.
The photographs show the technical efficiency of the modern camera’s high speed lenses, sensitive film, etc., which make it possible for Laredo to capture the split second drama of every day life.
Mr. Laredo was born in Turkey in 1914 and came to this country at the age of 12. He attended school in New Brunswick, New Jersey and spent his summers as apprentice to a local photographer. Later he studied at the National Academy of Design and toured the world in the Merchant Marine. His work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art and in the University of Lyons, France, and has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Charm, Seventeen, the U.S. Camera Annual, etc.
