This exhibition, opening on Thursday, March 30, with a tea and reception for representatives of the Mexican Government and Trustees and members of the Museum, will consist of paintings done in Mexico by Ceferino Palencia and objects from the Mexican folk art collection of the Museum.
Sr. Palencia, for several years Assistant Curator to the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid, has held one man shows in Madrid, Paris and Washington. Several paintings in the present exhibition were inspired by small clay and straw models of animals and people, examples of which will be on view. Objects to be shown from the Museum collection will include ceramics and glass, lacquer trays and boxes, jewelry and bead work.
The exhibition extends through May 21.
