A new accession of the Brooklyn Museum consisting of work by Abraham Walkowitz, from 1900 to 1934, will be put on view at the Museum in the contemporary painting section in the west gallery on the fifth floor, from Monday, July 31st through September 10th.
The exhibition will be made up of a selection of 60 pieces from the accession and will include oils on paper, watercolors, drawings and pastels, etchings, monotypes, and lithographs. It will be a cross section of the intimate products of the artist’s studio and will show his development over a number of years and his treatment of favorite themes.
The subject matter is figure studies and abstractions in the field of the dance, varying from representational work to abstract patterns of the dance, characters seen on New York City streets, landscapes and studies for murals.
After the exhibition the work will be installed as a study collection in the Print Room.

The exhibition of work by Abraham Walkowitz at the Brooklyn Museum has just been removed from the gallery walls and added to the Print Collection portfolios.
On Friday, January 5th, an exhibition, “Picturesque Architecture”, color plates from a volume by Thomas Shotter Boys, will be put on view to run through Sunday, February 4th.
