June 4, 1932
An exhibition of the work done in the art and craft classes of the Brooklyn Museum will open to the public on Saturday afternoon the 4th of June. Attendance in the classes has steadily increased in the past few years and the range of interests has been widened to appeal to a greater variety of ages and abilities. Although there are classes for Members of the Museum and children of Members the majority of classes are open to the public school children.
A popular innovation of the past season was a woodblock class for adult members of the Museum. Work executed in this class will be shown, including wall hangings, table scarves, napkins, Christmas cards and book-plates. Other classes represented in the exhibition are the Saturday Junior Art Class, whose work includes various kinds of drawing, painting, soap sculpture and clay modelling.
The Monday Craft classes show metal work, clay modelling, and soap sculpture. Other groups represented include the Tuesday Nature Study Clubs the Wednesday Block Print Club, the Thursday class in weaving and the interesting work by the Thursday afternoon drawing class for younger children. A special class for children of Museum Members shows work in various arts and crafts .
The exhibition will remain on view in the Library Gallery of the Museum from June 4th through June 16th.
