An afternoon of conversation and spoken word from formerly incarcerated women impacted by the intersection of mass incarceration and reproductive health issues. A collaboration with Toshi Reagon’s Word, Rock, and Sword: A Festival Exploration of Women’s Lives. Performances by Jacqueline Velez, Morley, and Toshi Reagon. Introductions by Tamar Kraft-Stolar, Director of Women In Prison Project; Soffiyah Elijah;  and Elizabeth Sackler. 


Professor Dana-Ain Davis, Queens College, moderates a discussion among Maria Caraballo, Coalition for Women Prisoners; Katherine Cross, feminist sociologist, CUNY Graduate Center; Ursulina Miranda, Coalition for Women Prisoners; Tina Tinen, advocate with Women in Prison Project; Jaya Vasandani, Associate Director , Women in Prison Project.

Professor Lynn Roberts, CUNY School of Public Health, moderates a discussion among Bridgette Gibbs, Coalition for Women Prisoners; Donna Hylton, Coalition for Women Prisoners; and Sharmaine Smith, Incarcerated Mothers Committee, Coalition for Women Prisoners.
