Tomyris
Flourished circa 525 B.C.E., around Iran and modern-day Romania
Tomyris was an ancient eastern queen and there is scholarly debate over which group of people she actually ruled. Some believe it was the Massagetae in Iran while others say she ruled the Getae, located around modern-day Romania. In 530 B.C.E.
, the Persian king Cyrus II waged war against Tomyris and her troops eventually defeated him, gaining much wealth from their victory.
