Marie Bashkirtsev

The common spelling of this name is MARIE BASHKIRTSEFF.
Marie Bashkirtseff exhibited her work in the 1880 Paris Salon before dying an early death from tuberculosis. Born in Russia, she and her mother moved around Europe and eventually settled in Paris, where Bashkirtseff studied painting at the Robert-Fleury studio. She kept a journal for many years; it was published in two volumes as Journal de Marie Bashkirtseff, avec un portrait in 1887. The journal charted her artistic development and was translated into several languages due to its tremendous popularity.
