Goody Glover

Date of birth unknown; d. 1688, Boston

Goody Glover was hanged as a witch in Boston. She was accused by her employer, stonemason John Goodwin, after four of his children fell ill. Even though she knew English, she refused to speak anything but Gaelic at her trial and she was convicted and publicly hanged. Reverend Cotton Mather, later of Salem Witch Trial fame, was instrumental in her execution.
