Annabella Drummond
b. circa 1350, Scotland; d. 1401/2, Scotland
In 1367, Annabella Drummond married John Stuart, who became King Robert III of Scotland in 1390. She played a significant political role during his reign. Robert’s authority was weakened by personal infirmity, thus Annabella assumed many administrative duties. More importantly, she consented to a coup against Robert orchestrated by their son, David Stuart, in 1398.
