Marpesia ruled the Amazons, a mythic race of warrior women, alongside her sisters, Hippo and Lampedo. She helped to expand the Amazonian empire through a series of military conquests. Marpesia was killed in a battle by Asian invaders and was succeeded as queen by her daughters, Sinope and Orithya.
