Internships and fellowships

    Immerse yourself in the world of museums, gaining hands-on experience while making a difference. The Brooklyn Museum offers a wealth of opportunities for those seeking exposure to art, education, curation, and other aspects of museum work.

    Qualified candidates from all backgrounds are welcome to apply. Museum experience is not required. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic to learn and eager to build connections with a diverse, lively community.

    Opportunities for adults

    Adult internships and fellowships are for undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates or those with commensurate experience, or adults who are not enrolled in higher education. Note: To be considered for a position, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    Museum Education Fellowship Program

    Education Fellows participate in a rigorous museum education training program, including hands-on workshops and reading discussions.

    Adult internships

    Interns are paired with a supervisor and integrated into Museum departments, participating in day-to-day workplace activities and projects with the guidance of full-time staff.

    Opportunities for teens

    Teen paid internships support youth leadership, critical thinking, and creative expression.
    Creative Practice

    Teens gain hands-on experience working with teaching artists, Museum educators, and other staff members.

    Teen Night Planning Committee

    New York City teens produce free monthly events for other teens that connect art and social justice.

    InterseXtions: Gender & Sexuality

    Teens explore gender and sexuality in art while organizing programming for queer and trans youth and allies.

    Museum Apprentice Program

    Guided by Museum staff, teens build lesson plans on art and art history, and gain experience teaching audiences of all ages.
